Danggan Balun (Five Rivers) — Serving All Yugambeh People

Danggan Balun (Five Rivers) is the Native Title and cultural heritage authority for the Yugambeh people. We are elected by the entire Yugambeh community and act on behalf of all Yugambeh people, not just a family group or small section. Our responsibility is grounded in both traditional law and custom and the legal obligations that come with formal recognition as a Native Title body.

Our Role

As the authorised body for Native Title and cultural heritage matters, Danggan Balun is entrusted with:

  • Upholding and protecting Yugambeh Country in line with cultural protocols and law

  • Ensuring community voices are respected and heard

  • Making decisions that benefit the whole Yugambeh community

Why This Matters

There are other organisations that work in the Yugambeh region, but some may represent only a single family or a limited group. These organisations do not carry the same legal or cultural responsibilities that Danggan Balun holds, nor are they required to represent all Yugambeh people.

By working with Danggan Balun, you ensure your engagement is:

  • Culturally appropriate

  • Legally compliant

  • Inclusive of the whole Yugambeh community

A Shared Responsibility

We welcome partnerships that respect our collective rights, responsibilities, and aspirations as Yugambeh people. If your organisation, business, or government agency wants to engage meaningfully with our community, Danggan Balun is your first and best point of contact.

Together, we can make sure that the future of Yugambeh Country reflects the voices, values, and wisdom of all its people.
