Danngan Balun Certificate of Incorporation
We, the Yugambeh people, whose traditional lands lie within and between the Logan and the Tweed Valleys, formally authorised the "Danggan Balun (Five Rivers) People Native Title Claim" which was lodged by our elected representatives (known as the Applicant) in the Federal Court on the 27th of June 2017, and thereafter accepted and registered on the 14th of September 2017. We are the Traditional Owners and with this claim hope to have our ancient rights to these lands and waters recognised by the Australian community. The Danggan Balun Aboriginal Corporation (ICN: 9085) was formally incorporated on the 24th of June, 2019 to further aid our people’s social and economic aspirations, and to serve as our representative body in Native Title and Cultural Heritage affairs.
From the mountains of the Great Dividing Range to the Coral Sea, this jagun (country) is our heritage, and from the registration of our claim we have sought to strengthen the care for and respect of our cultural heritage, and are continuing to build meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships with land owners within our area.
