Bullongin is derived from Bullon ‘River’ with the clan/locality suffix ‘-gin’ attached. Bullongin means ‘River People’ and refers to the numerous waterways and creeks that cross their country.

Bullongin country is within the Coomera river valley, extending north to the Pimpama river.
